The Accessible City:
The basic concept of “The Accessible City” is described in this report prepared by an expert group on spatial design for the International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction. It is proposed that this is a significant concept for planning policy now and in the future in order to make urban spaces and society more open and friendly to all the people living in cities, as well as to restore the valuable places that tend to be lost due to motorization, commercialization and even the advancement of information technology. This report, as the first edition, consists of seven articles from seven countries.
